Alabama Water Utilities received three facility awards from the Alabama Water Environmental Association (AWEA).

The awards are:

• Riverview Utility – First Place Excellence Award Category 2
• North Shelby Utility – Second Place Certificate of Excellence Award Category 2
• Shelby Ridge Utility System – Second Place Certificate of Excellence Award Category 1

The awards were accepted by Mark Globetti, Field Supervisor; Jake Smith, Operator Wastewater IV; James Simmons, Operator Water IV / Wastewater IV, and Jesse Kelley, Engineering Director.

AWEA holds an annual conference recognizing excellence in performance among wastewater treatment facilities across the state. To be considered for an award, selected AWEA members visit and inspect the applicants’ facilities using criteria to rank or score each one.

The criteria include standardization relating to operations and maintenance, treatment processes, process control, monitoring, record keeping, calibration of equipment, safety programs, staff attitudes, and overall facility appearance.
