Robert C. Flexon

Chairman of the Board, Nexus Water Group

Robert C. Flexon is a seasoned executive with a wealth of experience in the energy industry. He has demonstrated strong leadership in navigating the complex dynamics within the sector.

He currently serves and has served on a series of corporate boards including chair of PG&E Corporation (NYSE:PCG) since 2020, and is currently on the board of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) where he has been a board member since 2021. Robert has held several roles at Capstone Green Energy and its predecessor since 2018, including chair of the board since 2021; executive chairman since 2023; and Interim President and Chief Executive Officer from 2023 to 2024.

Robert was President and Chief Executive Officer and a director of Dynegy Inc. (NYSE: DYN), a power-generating company that owned and operated a number of natural gas-fueled and coal-fueled power stations in the U.S from 2011 to 2018.

Prior to Dynegy, he held several executive roles in the energy sector including, Chief Financial Officer of UGI Corporation (NYSE: UGI), a distributor and marketer of energy products and related services, in 2011;  Chief Executive Officer of Foster Wheeler AG (NASDAQ: FWLT) in 2010; President and Chief Executive Officer of Foster Wheeler USA from 2009 to 2010; and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of NRG Energy, Inc. (NYSE: NRG) in 2009. At NRG Energy, he also held the roles of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from 2008 to 2009, and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from 2004 to 2008.

Prior to joining NRG Energy, Robert held executive positions with Hercules, Inc. and various key positions, including General Auditor, with Atlantic Richfield Company. He began his career as a CPA with the former Coopers & Lybrand from 1980 to 1987.

Robert served on the board of directors for Genesys Works-Houston, an organization that transforms the lives of disadvantaged high school students through meaningful work experience, from 2016 to 2021. He also served on the board of directors of Baker Ripley, a Texas non-profit organization that connects low-income people to opportunities, from 2014 to 2016.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Villanova University and became a CPA (inactive) in the State of Pennsylvania.

Sebastian Griffin

Sebastian Griffin is a Senior Director in the Infrastructure & Renewable Resources group at British Columbia Investments (BCI). Sebastian joined BCI in 2019 and is responsible for asset management for private direct investments in infrastructure with a focus on utilities and transportation. In addition to serving on the Nexus Water Group board of directors, he also serves on the boards of Mosaic Forest Management and Global Container Terminals.

Sebastian has a B.A.Sc. in mechanical engineering from the University of British Columbia, and an MBA from The University of Oxford.

Clara Lequin

Clara Lequin is an Executive/Managing Director in the Infrastructure Investments Group at J.P. Morgan, where she is responsible for sourcing, executing, and managing investments in utility, power, and other infrastructure businesses. She currently serves on the boards of Nexus Water Group and South Jersey Industries (NJ-based gas utility and energy company).

Prior to joining J.P Morgan., Clara spent four years at Demeter Partners, a European private equity firm specializing in investments for the energy and ecological transition. In this role, Clara supported her team with the origination, structuring and execution of infrastructure investments in renewable power and energy efficiency projects, mainly in France.

A French national, she joined Demeter Partners after graduating with a master’s degree from ESSCA Business School.

Hai-Gi Li

Hai-Gi Li is an Executive/Managing Director in the Infrastructure Investments Group at J.P. Morgan. He currently serves on the boards of Nexus Water Group and Nieuport Aviation Infrastructure Partners (Toronto City Island Airport) and is primarily responsible for the day-to-day management of these investee companies.

Prior to joining the group in 2006, he worked in the Power & Infrastructure Group in J.P. Morgan’s Hong Kong offices where he was involved in a range of transactions including mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, debt and equity financings, valuations, public sector advice and privatizations in the Asia-Pacific region. Hai-Gi worked within the Diversified Industrials Group from 1999 to 2001.

Hai-Gi graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College and holds a B.A. in government.

Rob MacLean

Rob MacLean serves as Nexus Water Group’s President and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to the merger between SouthWest Water Company and Corix’s water and wastewater businesses, Rob had served as President and CEO of SouthWest Water since 2018. Rob’s career has spanned over 25 years in the water industry, and he has served as a volunteer leader for various regional and national organizations.

Rob has served as Chairman of the National Association of Water Companies, where he served as a board member for many years. Rob also co-chaired the National Utilities Diversity Council. While Rob resided in California, he proudly served on the board of directors of the California Chamber of Commerce as co-chair of the Chamber’s Water Committee and a member of the Executive Committee.  Rob has also been an active and strong supporter of the California Water Association. Additionally, Rob is a Silver Drop Award recipient for his long-standing participation in the American Water Works Association.

Rob earned his master’s degree in applied science in civil engineering from Polytechnique University in Montreal and his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from McGill University in Montreal. In 2014, he attended the Stanford Executive Program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and is a licensed professional engineer.

Sherina Maye Edwards

Sherina Maye Edwards is an experienced executive and corporate board member who has held a broad range of leadership roles that provide the breadth of experience and understanding required to lead innovative change.

Most recently, Sherina served as the Chief Strategy Officer for MasTec (NYSE: MTZ), a $10B Fortune 500 utilities infrastructure company. In that role she led the evolution of the power delivery segment with multi-year strategic planning, integration and alignment across all entities, and acceleration of business results to drive growth and profitability.  Prior to that, she served as the President and CEO of INTREN, a subsidiary of MasTec, where she led the company to a significant increase in operational efficiency, cost reductions, and safety excellence, resulting in record-breaking financial results.

Prior to joining INTREN, she served as an energy and utilities regulatory Partner at Quarles & Brady. Additionally, Sherina served a five-year term on the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) where she was charged with ensuring safe, reliable and affordable utility service to consumers. In 2016, she was appointed by President Barack Obama and U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx as co-chair of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Voluntary Information-Sharing System Working Group, where she provided recommendations on the protection of proprietary and security-sensitive information.

Sherina is nationally recognized for championing diversity and inclusion within the utility and energy sector. Her leadership led to the creation of the Illinois Utilities Business Diversity Council and the ICC’s Office of Diversity and Community Affairs.

She currently serves on the board of directors of Northwestern Energy, Midland States Banks, Nexus Water Group, as well as the Board of Trustees of Spelman College. Sherina spends time volunteering with and mentoring underprivileged youth in the Chicago community.

Sherina is a graduate of Howard University’s School of Law and a cum laude graduate of Spelman College where she received her B.A. in psychology.

Tom O’Flynn

Tom O’Flynn is a Director of TransAlta Corporation. He is also the Lead Operating Director at Dimension Renewable Energy and an Operating Director at Exus Renewables. He also serves as a Senior Advisor for Energy Impact Partners, a private energy technology fund investing in high-growth companies in the energy, utility and transportation industries; and on the board of Nexus Water Group.

Tom was the CEO and Chief Investment Officer of AES Infrastructure Advisors. Prior to, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at AES Corporation and responsible for all aspects of global finance and M&A teams across six global regions. During his tenure, he helped lead AES through a significant transformation, including strategic exits of non-core markets, that resulted in improved financial stability and allowed for the redeployment of cash to primary growth markets. Tom was also a key driver in initiating a major transition to renewables and green energy to significantly improve AES’s growth profile and reduce its carbon footprint.

Prior to joining AES, Tom was with The Blackstone Group Inc., where he was Senior Advisor, Power and Utility Sector, and Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Transmission Developers Inc., a Blackstone-controlled entity, that develops innovative power transmission projects in an environmentally responsible manner. Prior to, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Public Service Enterprise Group Incorporated. Prior to that he was Managing Director and was Head of North American Power at Morgan Stanley.

He received a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Northwestern University and a Master of Business Administration in finance from the University of Chicago. He is also an adjunct professor at Northwestern University, for a master’s program at the Institute for Energy and Sustainability.

Sue Paish

Sue Paish is the Chief Executive Officer at Canada’s Digital Cluster, an organization driving new models for innovation and the development and deployment of digital solutions across multiple sectors.

Prior to her role at DIGITAL, Sue most recently served as President and CEO of LifeLabs, Canada’s largest diagnostic lab, as well as the CEO for Pharmasave Drugs (National) Ltd. Before entering the corporate world, she practices employment law and managed an international law practice. Sue was the managing partner of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP in BC, where she led the growth of the firm from one office to an international presence with nine offices on three continents.

A recognized community and business leader, Sue sits on corporate and community boards including Nexus Water Group and Own the Podium. She formerly chaired the boards for the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research, the Vancouver Board of Trade, and the Business Council of British Columbia, among others.

Sue received the Order of BC in 2024, Queen’s Counsel in 2000, was inducted into the Hall of Fame for Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women in 2012.  She has been recognized as one of Canada’s top 25 women lawyers and at Distinguished Alumnae at UBC, her Alma Mater.

Steve Turner

Steve Turner is a Managing Director in the Infrastructure & Renewable Resources group at British Columbia Investments (BCI). Steve joined BCI in 2008 and is responsible for sourcing, executing and managing infrastructure investments. In addition to serving on the Nexus Water Group board of directors, Steve also serves on the board of Cleco Power,a Louisiana-based electric utility.

Steve has a B.S. in environmental Engineering from Montana Tech of the University of Montana and an MBA from the University of Victoria. Steve is also a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of British Columbia and is a CFA charterholder.
